Voter Guide Statement

As an educator, nurse, and scientist, but most importantly a father of two elementary-age kids in the Olympia public schools, I am running to serve on the Olympia School Board. I believe my personal and professional background will allow me to help our public schools achieve even greater success.

During the past year, despite well-intentioned efforts during the worldwide pandemic, the quality of public education in Olympia was severely compromised. With public health concerns lingering, I can bring both clinical and scientific expertise to future health policies in our schools. My background as a child health professional will help us continue safely providing the in-person learning our children deserve.

As a Pediatric ER Registered Nurse, I have seen firsthand the alarming increase in mental health crises in our children. With a collaborative background working with psychiatrists, social workers, and other allied health workers, I believe I can lead efforts to improve mental health support in our schools.

Olympia public schools are a community treasure, but we must continue to improve educational quality. This also means supporting and including all children, regardless of their personal circumstances. I ask for your support for the Olympia School Board.
